Presentation
by Intelligent Light, developer of FieldView
"New Technologies for Interactive Post-processing of Large CFD Data" Mr. Steve M. Legensky, Founder
and General Manager, Intelligent Light
Up to now, most post-processing software has used methods that date back
to the 1980's when CFD was usually steady-state and dataset size was small. In
order to attack the problem of efficient post-processing of the large,
unsteady datasets created today and those that will be common in the future,
new methods are required.Mr. Legensky will describe new software technologies
to manage unsteady data that also utilize the programmability features
of modern graphics boards.Using these techniques, 60Gb CFD datasets have
been post-processed interactively on LINUX PCs.
14:10-14:50

User Presentation
"The role of CFD and CFD results visualization in a simulation based design
process" Mr. Hyung Lee, CFD Lead Engineer, Bechtel Bettis
Inc.
With the rise in complexity of product and process design, the use of computer-aided-simulation
tools has become widespread.Rapid advancements in computing technology
have continued to reduce the time required to run computer simulation programs. This
reduction in simulation time, coupled with the advent of intelligent optimization
and design improvement techniques, now allows the investigation of more
product configurations than ever before.Taking advantage of these developments,
a simulation based integrated design process is proposed which utilizes
computer simulation based design practices, advanced physical (mathematical)
models, and a body of knowledge stored in readily accessible databases
to achieve the desired objectives of reducing design risks and costs, enabling
the study of revolutionary concepts, and providing a means to train new
designers.

Special
Session
16:40-17:20
"New
industrial revolution driven by simulation" -simulation
revolution brought about by the Earth Simulator and new industrial
revolution driven by simulation" * Dr. Tetsuya Sato
Director-General, EarthSimulatorCenter,
Japan Marine Science and TechnologyCenter
The Earth Simulator introduced the idea of "simulating the entire
system" rather than conventional way of "simulating a part of
a system." As a result, simulation of a new product as a whole has
been enabled in product development processes. In this special session,
examples of such accomplishments and proposed concept of linked layer simulation,
which can be applied to automotive and most of other industrial sectors,
will be presented along with its examples.
17:30〜19:30
Reception
Party (Admission Free) Party starts at 17:30 - 30th floor “Furano”
* These presentations will be available only in Japanese.
