[FieldView 12.1] Significant speed・up of reading large-scale, unsteady data!
Enhanced CG features enabling more effective presentations!
Masaya Tani, Engineering Department 1, Pre/Post Process Integration Group, VINAS
The upcoming FieldView 12.1 speeds up tasks that are related to large scale analysis calculations by parallel processing of very large data consisting of evaluation results of more than a hundred million grid points and newly added support for streamline function for large scale, unsteady data. Other newly added features include CG functions such as texture mapping and anti-aliasing that are helpful when creating high quality presentations.
- Application Examples -
* Aerodynamic analysis surrounding UAV body using polyhedral mesh (STAR-CD)
* Example of a cast part (FLOW-3D)
* Comparison of multiple data - catheter internal flow (FiDAP) and more examples
|
11:20-12:10 |
[SCULPTOR V2] Fluid design optimization - Improving efficiency and application to turbomachinery design
Yukihiro Yamamoto, Engineering Department 1, Fluid Design and Optimization Group, VINAS
The upcoming version SCULPTOR V2 features enhanced morphing functions such as ASD definition with T-splines and analytical geometry fitting, enabling more efficient working process of design optimization. In addition, the newly supported cylindrical coordinate system facilitates blade shape optimization of turbomachinery such as turbines, pumps, and torque converters.
- Application Examples -
* Example of fan blade optimization
* Example of HVAC evaporator shape optimization
* Example of automotive body shape aerodynamic analysis (case study)

[FINE/Turbo V8] Supports jet engines, turbochargers, pumps and hydraulic turbines!
Improve design accuracy of turbomachinery by Non Linear Harmonic feature, which enables unsteady analysis for product performance evaluation
Yoshiyuki Sawa, General Manager, Engineering Department 1, VINAS
The first-ever unsteady design evaluation model "Non Linear Harmonic" will extend its support into uncompressible fluid machines such as pumps and water wheels. In this session, examples of efficiency improvements in design process of jet engines, turbochargers, water wheels, which can be achieved by the upcoming FINE/Turbo V8 (release scheduled this summer) are presented.
- Application Examples -
* Jet engine compressor stage analysis model
* Turbocharger compressor unsteady analysis model

15:20-16:10 |
[System integration / SMS] High-level automation of CFD work process and analysis data management system
Kazuhiro Hashiba, Manager, Project Promotion Department, VINAS
Analysis models used in engineering processes are getting larger and detailed nowadays, and the number of analysis cases are increasing drastically. Therefore, time needed to generate analysis data and then calculate and evaluate it is significantly increasing, and improving efficiency of analysis work is becoming critical. In this session, examples of VINAS's system integration service, in which efficiency of analysis processes is significantly improved, are presented.
- Application Examples -
* Gridgen automatic grid generation system
* FieldView automatic visualization system
* Automatic visualization and report authoring system
* Increasing performance of analysis programs
|
16:10-17:00 |
[Pointwise] Improving mesh generation process by new product Pointwise, featuring significantly improved user interface
Konosuke Kitamura, Engineering Department 1, Pre/Post Process Integration Group, VINAS
New product, Pointwise, is a mesh generation tool that combines new GUI that allows smooth operations and proven capability of high-quality mesh generation functions of Gridgen. This session features demonstration of easily operated functions of Pointwise such as use of icons and very simple generation of domains and blocks. In addition, latest information on Gridgen, including CAD interface and improvement of tetra mesh generation for boundary regions will be presented.
- Application Examples -
* Example of mesh generation for analysis model of an automotive passenger compartment
* Other examples from domestic and overseas users
